Partner to Grow

A Workshop

Presented by Axelson Center for Nonprofit Management

Presenter: Jean Butzen, President, Mission Plus Strategy Consulting

Difficult economic times such as these call for alternative strategies for growing and stabilizing nonprofit organizations and delivering on mission. One strategy that leaders are increasingly turning to is nonprofit partnerships, or strategic re-structuring. In today’s funding environment, it is not always possible for an organization to finance geographic expansion, broaden program offerings, or to strengthen its infrastructure on its own. Partnering with another nonprofit, however, could make these goals more easily attainable. As an introduction to the basics of strategic re-restructuring for nonprofits, this workshop will cover definitions, the business drivers, examples of four basic models from real-life situations, and the process for selecting a partner. It is targeted to the staff leadership team and board members. Whether you are considering a partnership strategy for your organization today or not, strategic restructuring is something all nonprofit leaders will need to have in their tool box in the 21st century and this workshop will explain why.
